I did it!!
Now that I have stayed committed to various Beachbody programs, I just didn’t feel right about skipping out on the “optional” week 9 – Hell Week – of the 22 Minute Hard Corps program. Which is what I wanted to do! I saw a lot of other people in my groups were going forward and I decided to forge ahead and commit to double workouts for the week. And, you know what? I did it. Was it perfect? Nope! Did I love it? Not really! But, I do feel good about my efforts and for me, I’m most proud that I STUCK with it and saw it through to the END! I can’t wait to submit for my coin!
Some of the hardest moves became easier by the end and I definitely learned some things about myself.
That’s been the biggest takeaway from all my experiences for the past year! I have learned so much about eating well and working out, but really, what I have learned the most is how I am able to do what I know is right for my body and health and also that I am able to stay COMMITTED to something.
The double workouts were not my favorite and I can’t say I’ll be doing that again anytime soon – I mean, I like 20-30 minute workouts 🙂 I’m pretty excited to return to 21 Day Fix Extreme starting this Monday as this is nearly the EXACT same time I started my health and fitness journey last year. I can’t say for sure, but I’m pretty positive that I had NO intention of changing my entire lifestyle when I placed my order for the 21 Day Fix Extreme program last year. In fact, I didn’t really even know much about it. I was tired of the program I had been following – packaged foods and a ton of salads – so I probably figured this was just another thing to try to get ready for summer.
Imagine my surprise last year when I was a few weeks into the program and we went on a family visit one weekend that involved a trip to the beach. As soon as we got there it was time to get lunch at the beach stand. The menu was full of many favorites – pizza, fries, burgers – you know! I opted for a salad of some kind and was pretty content with it. The best thing was that I didn’t feel guilty after eating, but also didn’t feel deprived. I hadn’t ruined my efforts AND I didn’t have that terrible feeling of regret. I made the right choice for the right reasons!
Has my entire past year been all CLEAN eating? No – I have enjoyed chocolate treats (maybe too many:), some adult beverages, fries and other snacks here and there, but I can say for sure that those have been way less. Instead of eating a slice of cake, I am willing to make healthier choices and have a few bites of the cake.
Here’s my meal plan for next week! It’s pretty similar to previous weeks – if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it!
