It’s all in the box!
Recently, we have been getting Blue Apron deliveries for a few meals. We are signed up to get a weekly delivery of three meals for two people – and often that stretches to more than two people.
Blue Apron gives you the chance to pick three meals from six choices. The combinations are a little restrictive – maybe for packaging reasons or cost. They send you EVERYTHING! Well, except for salt, pepper and olive oil.
You get an information sheet for an ingredient that is out of the ordinary – I have learned about pink lemons, swiss chard and kale.
The recipe and instruction card are both colorful and easy to follow – with text large enough for my aging eyes 😉
This week I received a salmon dish, a white pizza and a pasta dish. One thing I love about these meals is that there is NO waste. When I attempt a new recipe, I usually have to purchase a few new ingredients and most of the time, I end up having to buy more than I’ll actually use for the recipe. For instance, kale – you don’t just buy a handful of kale – it’s most likely going to be a good bit more than you need. Then you either have to find another recipe or the product goes to waste. Not with Blue Apron – they send you just the amount you need of each ingredient.
The meals above are the three that will come next Thursday. You have until the Friday before as you can see in the image below of my order for the week after next. My credit card gets billed on Monday for a Thursday delivery. Also below, you can see where the option is to change menu items or set a week to be skipped. All these steps are done on the website. The site also has wine pairings for each dish! I haven’t done this yet, but do like the option. I don’t know much about wine and am interested in a professional pairing.
Here’s a short video about unpacking the box and all about what is inside.
